Major Alumina Refinery Expansion – Wagerup

Client: Alcoa
Skills:  Expert advice
Location: Wagerup, Western Australia, Australia
Date: 2006

Alcoa proposed a major upgrade and expansion to their Wagerup Alumina Refinery and required an independent expert to oversee the work undertaken in relation to air quality. Katestone was commissioned by Alcoa to supply independent expert advice, in the form of a desktop peer review of studies conducted in support of the refinery expansion.

Our desktop review evaluated the air quality impact assessment reports to determine if the information was adequate, whether the methodologies used were appropriate in determining the impacts on air quality due to the refinery and whether the conclusions drawn from the work were justified. The review included a range of air quality reports undertaken by CSIRO and air quality experts.
